Frequently Asked Questions

Please let me know if you have questions that aren't answered here!

My child is of scared or allergic to dogs, can we still come to you for therapy?

Of course! Juniper is a wonderful addition to therapy, but she doesn't have to be present if having a dog in session will make therapy  uncomfortable. Please share this information in our consultation call so I can prepare to not have Juniper present during sessions. It should be noted that we cannot guarantee a dog hair and dander free environment so please take the necessary precautions based on your child's allergy.

How much do therapy services cost? Do you take insurance?

As of October 14, 2024, I am in network with Cigna, Aetna, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Colorado, through third party biller called Headway. This means that Headway submits claims to insurance providers on my behalf and checks to make sure that therapeutic services are covered as part of an individual plan and what the perimeters of the plan entail.  If you have a different provider, that would be considered private pay. Private pay services for a traditional session (53-55 minutes) are $150.00 per session. If appropriate, I am happy to provide a superbill to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. It is important to check with your insurance provider ahead of time about out of network services and reimbursement so you understand what and how much of your services they are willing to cover. Please don't let cost of care be the reason that you don't reach out for the care that you deserve, I am willing to work with you to explore the most affordable option!

My child is 12, what do I need to know about their services?

The state of Colorado passed an amendment to HOUSE BILL 19-1120, which allows minors twelve years old or older to consent for their own mental health services with or with out their parent or guardian's consent. This means at the age of twelve therapy services are under the direction of the adolescent (client), and sharing information from sessions is determined by the client. Further, a mental health provider must obtain consent from the minor before sharing information with the minor's parent or guardian unless the mental health provider is aware of an immanent risk to the adolescent. Information regarding the parameters of House Bill 19-1120 are discussed in further detail during our intake session to make sure any questions about the regulations are answered completely.

I signed up for a consultation, what do I say?

This is a great question! Consultations are a great opportunity to ask questions that might be important for you to know about your potential therapist or what you might do in session to help.

I have found that helpful questions include:

  • What do sessions typically look like?

  • I am looking for support with _______, is this an area that you have experience with?

  • What is your approach to therapy?

  • What might my time commitment look like?

What you are looking for after asking these questions is does this therapist feel like a good fit for me to work with, does their personality and style of support feel right for the goals I have for therapy?

In consultation calls, I try to have give time for you to tell me about you or your child, me to give a brief introduction about my therapeutic style, and time for logistics.

I booked a consultation call for my child, should they attend?

The short answer is yes! If you are looking for a therapist for your child they also need to feel comfortable with the therapist they are meeting with and often times have their own questions about therapy that are important to them. It is completely appropriate for them to attend the consultation call. It is also okay for you to request your own consultation call or to start the call and have your child join later, especially if you feel like you have information to share that may be sensitive to discuss with your child present.

I booked a consultation call for Wellness Services, what should I ask?

Similar to a consultation about therapeutic services, this is an opportunity for us to discuss what types of wellness services your and interested in and to see if what I provide is a good fit for your needs.

It is a good idea to talk about:

  • Any injuries or accommodations you might need.

  • What type of wellness service you are looking for (small group, individual, workshop, etc.)

  • Your goals for services.

  • Details about format or your personal vision for these services.
